EVENTS 2026

Every Wednesday, 11am - 2pm: Finds handling

Get hands-on with history. Visitors can get hands-on with real and replica objects, lead by one of our team of volunteers. Included in museum admission.

Every Thursday at 1pm and every Sunday at 2pm: Guided tour of the Roman fort

Museum visitors can explore the earthworks of the Roman fort, led by the volunteer guides. The tours last for 30-45 minutes and are subject to the weather. The fort is situated in farmland, which is uneven and there may be sheep present. Suitable footwear is recommended. We are grateful to the landowners (Cultura Trust) and their tenants for supporting the guided tours. Dogs are not allowed on the tours (except registered guide/assistance dogs).

Every Friday from 18th September at 11am: Storytelling

Come and meet Humphrey, the wild boar mascot of the 20th legion that used to be stationed at Maryport Roman fort. Together with his troublesome friend Bo, he gets into all sorts of scrapes and adventures. Why not come and join us and find out more about what he’s up to!
