Paul Bidwell:Roman Corbridge and the Hexham Crypt
Paul Bidwell is Head of Archaeology for Tyne and Wear Museums archaeology department, who have undertaken a ground-breaking investigation of the Roman inscriptions on stones incorporated in the construction of the Anglo-Saxon crypt under Hexham Abbey.

Stephen Bull:Triumphant Rider: the Lancaster Roman cavalry tombstone
The discovery in Lancaster, in November 2005, of a massive stone bearing the image of a triumphant horseman and his fallen foe was without doubt one of the most significant Roman finds of recent years. But who was the horseman, could the many fragments ever be satisfactorily be reassembled, and what did this stunning object mean for our history?
