Education
When you are thinking of booking a school visit we recommend that you arrange to visit the museum on your own to discuss your individual requirements and to undertake your own risk assessment. Just telephone 01900 816168 to book an appointment with one of our education team.
We can provide suitable sessions for KS 1, 2, 3 & 4 but suggest that infants only visit for half a day. Joint days can also be arranged with the Maritime Museum and the Aquarium (please telephone to discuss any individual requirements)
We can also provide a Roman themed loan box for teachers to use in the class room in preparation for your visit to the museum.
Coach parking & drop-off located on Camp Road.
It's only a short walk from the museum. There is a shop at the museum for reference books (including a good selection specifically for those essential pocket money purchases.
Typical programme for a full day. (Visits can be tailored to your individual requirements.)

Groups will rotate around three activities: 1. Climb to the top of the watchtower to look at the site 2. ‘Hands-on’ activity, when children will have an opportunity to handle real and replica artefacts and discuss the material culture of the Romans in Britain.

Lunch break and a chance to let off steam in the museum yard. Packed lunches can be eaten in the Kirby Gallery or in the outside picnic area weather permitting. |
